'Chindo' (pronounced "Shin doe")
was introduced by the late J.C. Raulston and is grown for its large,
shiny evergreen leaves. Some gardeners report large, red fruit
clusters in fall, but fruit production does not seem to be consistent
in our area.
Perfect for planting at the corners of your home where a taller
evergreen is desired or space 5-6' apart as a garden hedge or screen.
See our 'Chindo' planted to the left of the garden bench under the
shade arbor in our display garden.
Plants mature at 15' tall by 10' wide. May easily maintain at half
this size with once-a-year trimming.
Plant in sun to light shade. Plants are very drought-tolerant after
their first year in the garden.
