The South's answer to Colorado Blue
Spruce! - Yes, it IS too hot here for Blue Spruce, but 'Carolina
Sapphire' loves our heat and has terrific blue-grey foliage.
Introduced by Clemson University, 'Carolina Sapphire' grows a little
looser (more graceful) and in a broad pyramid shape, whereas other
popular Arizona cypress cultivars, 'Blue Ice' and 'Silver Smoke', grow
in a narrower, columnar shape.
Plant alone as a specimen in the garden border or in large containers
as a colorful accent.
'Carolina Sapphire' grows quickly to mature at 20-25' tall by 10-15'
wide. May easily maintain at 10-12' with once-a-year trimming.
Expect 2-3' of growth a year.
Plant in sun to very light shade. |
