Grown for its compact shape which it retains without pruning.
'Compacta'
is often confused with boxwood. Like boxwood, it is a medium-growing
evergreen, perfect as a foundation planting under high windows or for
formal hedges which are maintained with flat tops and sides. Because 'Compacta'
grows much faster than boxwood, it is less expensive.
Plant 4' apart for plants to grow together in a couple of years.
Plants mature at 5-6' tall by 4' wide. May easily keep at 3-4' tall
and 3' wide by pruning once-a-year anytime between March and August.
Expect 6-12" growth a year.
Plant in sun to light shade.
