American Boxwood

(Buxus sempervirens)

Grown for its classic deep-green evergreen foliage which is easily shaped into specimen plants to frame garden entryways or kept trimmed as a formal hedge or simply allowed to grow naturally for informal screening.

Plant 2-3' apart for hedges. Plants will grow together in a couple of years. In winter, plants sometimes turn a bit bronze, greening back up in early spring.

Plants slowly mature at 6' tall by 4' wide. May easily trim anytime between March and August to keep at 3-4' tall and wide. Expect only about 4" growth a year.

Plant in sun to quite heavy shade. Plants are very drought-tolerant after their first year in the garden.
