A
native to the Eastern and Southern United States, willow oak is a
fast-growing and long-lived tree.
Narrow leaves emerge in early spring, maintaining their deep-green
color in summer and changing in fall to an attractive yellow or bronze
color before dropping for winter.
Acorns are only about 1/2" in diameter. Acorns provide food for
wildlife!
Many
gardeners admire the willow oaks that Milliken Corporation in
Spartanburg has planted on either side of I-85.
Willow oaks grow to 40' or more tall and wide.
Expect 1-2' of growth a year.
Plant in sun or light shade.
